Lately, our afternoon reset routine usually involves grabbing a snack, a sippy cup of milk, and strolling on down to our neighborhood park for a little fresh air and downtime together.⠀
⠀
These No-Bake Peanut Butter Cereal Cups (or “cupcakes” as Noah, our 3-year-old, calls them) have been our go-to park snack this summer, myself included. They are seriously so good and not too sweet. Most times I reach into the fridge to take some out for the kids, I can’t resist grabbing one for myself, too!⠀

Made with only whole grain cereal, satiating peanut butter, chia seeds and a dollop of honey, they’re perfect paired with a cold glass of milk. Our kiddos will only eat them with milk (can’t blame ‘em!) so we usually fill a couple of spill-proof cups and the kids take their milk to-go. ⠀

Adding real dairy milk to their on-the-go afternoon snack is an easy and delicious way to give them a boost of protein, quality calories, and essential nutrients that kids tend to be short on, like vitamin D, potassium, and magnesium.⠀

    • Mamas! Have any of you tried this magic milk color experiment before? We did this activity with our little guy last week and it kept him occupied for a good 20 minutes, which pretty much feels like an eternity on toddler-time. 😉

If you have kiddos, add this to your list of quick, minimal-prep activities to try.
To do it you’ll need:
A dinner plate or pie plate⠀
Real dairy milk⠀
Liquid food coloring (not gel or plant-based, we didn’t have good luck with those!)⠀
Liquid dish soap⠀
Cotton swabs⠀ ⠀
Pour just enough milk to completely cover the bottom of your plate. Once the milk is still, add several drops of food coloring to the milk using a variety of colors. Then, dip a clean cotton swab in the dish soap and put the tip of the cotton swab into the center of the milk. Repeat this step several times with more soap and clean cotton swabs. Once the colors have mixed, try dragging the cotton swabs to pull the colors around the bowl!⠀

This sweet and highly sippable S’mores-Moon Milk features soft, sweet marshmallows melted into real dairy milk, topped with more oven-toasted marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs and a drizzle of hot fudge.⠀
⠀
To make the marshmallow milk you’ll need 1 cup of dairy milk and 1 ounce of marshmallows — about 2 large or 18 miniature.⠀
⠀
Start by cutting large marshmallows into several small pieces and combine marshmallows and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stirring frequently, warm the milk just until marshmallows are completely melted, about 8-10 minutes.⠀
⠀
For a toasted marshmallow topping, place a some marshmallows under the broiler for a few minutes until they are golden brown, keeping a close eye on them to make sure they don’t burn. When they’re toasted to your liking, turn the broiler off and move them to the lowest rack to keep them warm and melty.⠀
⠀
Then, pour your marshmallow milk into a warm mug and add your favorite toppings — toasted marshmallows, graham cracker crumbles and hot fudge!⠀
⠀
Not only can warm milk be a soothing way to end the day, it also provides 9 essential nutrients in each 8-ounce mug. That’s why I prefer using real dairy milk vs. a plant-based drink in my moon milk recipe.⠀
