I’ve been singing a lot of Jo Dee Messina lately – you country music lovers who’ve heard Heads Carolina, Tales California might be able to guess why.
Since graduation, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes of this little blog – job searching, job interviews, more home improvements and a few talks with realtors. You see, the fiancé and I fell in love with San Francisco, the city where we fell in love, and we’ve been pining to get back there since he left almost two years ago.
Well friends, we flipped a coin and tales it is.
We’re moving to San Francisco! Rob was offered a job in the Bay Area and, let me put it this way, we’ll be moving for his salary – not mine.
North Carolina has been my home for the past eight years – eight wonderful years. I’m a Boston girl born and bred but oddly enough, a country girl at heart. It’s where I moved with one of my best friends soon after college and where I met some new ones in graduate school. I’ve done a lot of growing up and calming down here over the past eight years. Needless to say, I’ll always hold North Carolina near and dear to my heart.
There are thousands of details to iron out over the course of the next 6 weeks. On top of preparing for the RD exam there’s now a townhouse to be sold, an apartment to be rented, moving estimates to be scheduled and a hundred boxes to be packed – but I couldn’t be more excited.
Feel free to sing along.
P.S. I’ll be on the hunt for new friends & running buddies in SF – so feel free to say hi if you’re in the area!
That’s so exciting!! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to San Francisco… I’ve heard so many good things about it.
Welcome to the West side!! So happy for you :)
What a huge and exciting decision! Congrats! I love that Carolina necklace, and I simply had to search for a Virginia counterpart on Etsy. Beautiful.
As a Charlotte girl, I can say NC will miss you, but you’ll have a blast!
I actually moved with my boyfriend to San Francisco from New Orleans a couple months ago. I’m currently doing my dietetic internship at UCSF medical center and loving it here! Would love to meet up!
Gahhhh congrtaulations!!! I just moved to the Triangle and LOVE it but Cali is so so so neat!
What a great adventure!
Exciting! Also, love the great snapshot of the necklace! Already looking forward to my first trip to San Fran :)
I wish I could move there :) Congrats!
CONGRATS!!! OMG I’m so excited! My husband and I recently moved to the Bay Area for his job and we’re also looking to make some new friends in the area. It looks like there are quite a few other Bay Area bloggers from reading others’ comments – maybe we can do a Bay Area blogger meet up?! :D My husband and I actually just signed a lease for a house to rent last week and I shared my experience apartment/rental house hunting on my blog on Monday if you’re interested. I’m sure you might have heard already, but it’s a little crazy up here when it comes to finding housing (whether renting or buying).
And, that’s so funny because when my husband and I moved up here from Southern California, I also totally rocked out to “Heads Carolina, Tales California” more than a few times on our road trip up. Lol. ;)
Can’t wait to hopefully meet you & some of the other awesome peeps in the Bay Area! Congrats again!
How exciting!!! I’m in the process of trying to relocate to SF w my work and get back to the west coast, where I from.
Ps. How did you and your fiancé meet?
I’m a new reader and it looks like I discovered your blog just in time! Welcome to the SF Bay Area! I have a great group of running and blogging friends all over the Bay Area – we’d love to meet you!
Congrats! You’ll love it there!
Congratulations! Take care!
Wow, that is very exciting! San Fran is one of my favorite cities. It’s so diverse, but so welcoming and totally awesome all at the same time. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures.
How exciting!! Now that you’ll be living in NorCal, we must meet up :)
I’m moving to the East Bay (Berkeley) in 3 weeks! Let’s meet up sometime!

CONGRATS! I am so excited (and so jealous) for you! I dream of living in California. I hope you have a stress-free move! And post lots of new pictures of San Francisco!
I grew up out here in Southern California then moved to North Carolina for 6 years and am now back. North Carolina will also be near and dear to my heart. I hope to move again though someday, maybe to Northern California! Where were you in NC?
AHH SO exciting!! I hear great things about SF :) Good luck with the move!
That’s so exciting!! (love that country music reference btw). I hope everything with the move goes smoothly, I’m sure you’ll love California!

Awesome! Transitions can be challenging but if they involve getting to a city you love that’s half the battle!! Congrats.
ahhhH! so excited for you! can i come visit?!
Yay, good luck with the move.
I moved to the Bay Area(from England) just over 3 years ago, I’ve lived on the Peninsula, SF itself and now I’m in the East Bay
Cool! I recently moved to the east bay while taking the science classes I need so I can work towards a similar degree in public health and nutrition! I love this place.
Congrats to both of you on this exciting change! I’m a SF Bay Area transplant as well! Feel free to email if you need any recommendations or a friend to chat over coffee (at Philz of course). I’m not familiar at ALL with SF, more the Peninsula/South Bay, but there’s lots to explore everywhere!
Yes!!!! Lets be SF friends!!!!!
